We have seen women who have had to decide between treatment or maintaing their households.

In response we began offering limited financial assistance and are the ONLY organization in our community to pay rent/mortgage, utilities and food for women in treatment.
Knowledge is power. Learn the facts about breast cancer and proper breast care.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women, other than skin cancer. Mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer.
We sponsor education events in a variety of settings.

We're also participate in health fairs and other activities in the interest of keeping our community informed.
The Intercultural Cancer Council housed at Baylor College of Medicine selected UHESS Founder Gwendolyn Brown to receive its 2014 Dorothy I. Height Community Advocacy Award. The Award was given on March 26th at its regional meeting in Memphis. The award is given to an outstanding individual who has worked tirelessly with cancer survivors.
